This is my first blog ever! I am a reader and a talker- not a writer – and there are huge differences between those things. And the distance between those distinctions are growing wider and wider as I sit here trying to write a post.
I am a bit of a perfectionist, so naturally I want my first ever post to be entertaining, informative and fun…which does not seem too much to ask, but I officially have writer’s block. So, I am going to focus on informative this go around and promise you that the blog will be more entertaining and fun in the very near future.
At this writing, we (me, my hubby – Bob – and my awesome family) are furiously securing and installing decor, finalizing the book selection, coordinating author signings and assembling furniture for the store. The anticipation of finally opening the doors for business is growing with each passing day.
Book-ish is a dream come true for me and it is the first business I have ever started. And although I have spent the last 25+ years in the commercial real estate industry [in Atlanta], there has been a huge learning curve…and I am not out of it yet! I have so many people to thank but that will come in a future post.
But opening is just the beginning of the vision that we have for Book-ish. It is not enough for us to just be in the book business. We want to be a resource for the community; to become part of the fabric of Cashiers. This store is going to be part of our outreach, our ministry, to touch the lives of those around us in a loving, constructive and powerful way.
So, come in and introduce yourselves! We want your feedback, comments, questions, suggestions and recommendations. We look forward to getting to know you.
See you soon!
